As a theatre producing its own shows, the Théâtre du Châtelet founded the Châtelet Scenic Construction Workshop in 2010 in order to make its own sets for opera, musicals, theatre, and dance.
The Workshop also builds stands, exhibitions, and various installations relating to all activities in the cultural sector.
Bringing together all sorts of trades under one roof (metal workers, carpenters, painters, sculptors, silversmiths, etc.), the Workshop is capable of responding to all tenders and executes each year a number of commissions for other theatres, such as the Théâtre de Brunoy and the Théâtre National de Chaillot.
The workshop is situated near Paris, in Chevilly-Larue. Its success in satisfying the demands and requirements of a particular project is based on four main pillars of activity:
Technical design, development of draft and execution plans, production follow-up, creation of assembly and production plans.
Traditional manufacturing techniques for ornamental metalworking in steel and aluminum, as well as for woodworking and polystyrene items. Execution of painted backdrops and decorative painting and texture effects over large surfaces.
New manufacturing techniques in plastics: multi-walled polycarbonates, cut-outs and laser printing on various flexible and rigid surfaces, sculptures and prints.
Wrapping, weather-protection, and preparation for transport of set elements on delivery day. On-site presence and assistance on get-in day(s).
